Jetsetting, My, My, How Lovely...

Helloooo, my neglected nonexistent readers!
Merry Christmas to you Jesusians, Happy Hannukah to you lovely people of Israel, Happy Kwanzaa to whoever celebrates that (?), or Happy Winter if you're an ATHEIST! ;) Guess what, my multicultural friends? I'm going HOME!!! Well, sort of. I'm going back to Beirut, Lebanon, for Christmas...to see family and just because we love it. I used to live there. And our layover is in PARIS! Funfunfun with the French! Going to the Louvre and the Xmas market on the---let's see if I can spell it---Chans du Lise! It's goin to be cooooool. And my aunt, who knows Paris like the back of her hand (lucky woman!!) is going to show us around. Lovelovelove, I am SO excited! Can you tell? Of course I will be telling all of you lovely yet invisible pals of mine about anything interesting that happens, but for now let me list the disastrous goings-on in my house as we last-minute pack.
A) My 11 year old brother broke his wrist last Wednesday. We get a call, in the car, from his doctor's office, canceling our appointment and pushing it to 10:30. We have to be AT THE AIRPORT 40 MINUTES AWAY at 11:30. My mother exploded, and then an hour or so later we get a call saying someone can see him at eight. QUITE a waste of that bottle of vodka my mother drained. Just kidding ;) she only had one glass. Red wine, she so classy!

B) I was completely finished packing, miracle of miracles. I go to put the CDs my best friend had made me on my computer to transfer the to my iPod, and my KEYBOARD AND MOUSE ARE NOT WORKING. So. AFter spending an hour and a half on the phone and on hold with tech support, who had zip idea how to fix it, I go into total breakdown mode. Crying, hyperventilating, downing that aforementioned vodka bottle. Just kidding. Yuck. But I did freak out. And then I called the source of the CDs, who reminded me why I love her in the first place---she immediately said "YES!! Now I get to add to that CD, AND make you the four more I didn't have time to yesterday!!!" Ahh. This woman saves my life/sanity on a regular basis.

So, the house is peaceful again. Mostly. Not a creature is stirring, not even a m...oh wait, there goes my brother. Haha, did you ever think any house with an eleven year old boy in it could ever be peaceful?

Well. Nothing more to say until we land in PARIS! For now, I have a date with that vodka bottle. Jeez, just kidding! When are you going to stop falling for that? ;)

Alright, I need to stop----I'm playing Bad Joke Friday and it's not even Friday yet!

Peace, Love, And Free Cheese to ALL!

Mute!

All right...Here is my only outlet at the moment, because I officially have NO VOICE! Can you imagine? And I'm going to have insane amounts of makeup work...but moving on from that. I have fallen in love with the Beatles, especially "Revolution"! And "Come Together" has given me a new term for the lovely attendees of St. Hoes: Holy Rollers. Perfect, yes? Especially when everyone's parents' BMWs have those "I Believe" stickers on the back window.
So as I'm sitting here drinking my body weight in tea and popping unhealthy amounts of Halls, hoping someone out there is actually reading this, I'm also dying to watch the episode of Glee I missed on wednesday. But my computer won't load it, so it stops when kirk says the word "grandmother". And it's not even the end of his sentence! So if anyone knows how to watch it on a non-crappy website or something, kindly explain to me that too.

Peace, Love, and Baby Ducks!

we all wanna change the world.

Not-So-Spirited Spirit Week

So this week is Homecoming week. The only five ― actually four ― days of the year when we get to dress out of uniform, and what are the days?:
1)Nerd Day (in uniform, but we can "accessorize with 'nerdy' jewelry or mismatching socks", yes, that is a direct quote)
2)Movie Character Day (which would be perfectly fine if the dress code didn't outlaw any interesting characters....my best friend and I have been reduced to going as the cartoon angel & devil that appear on people shoulders to confuse them when they decide whether or not to do something bad, which mostly qualifies said character as insane)
3)Luau Day (probably THE worst homecoming event in the history of all mindless football traditions---and the dress code outlaws flip flops, grass skirts unless they involve shorts that come to your knee, and shirts with bathing suits painted on them...aside from not going to school at all, what else would you wear to a luau?? The administration has obviously gone off their crazy-meds)
4)Green and Gold Day/Spirit Day (perfectly fine except during the 8 to 11:30am time period in which we are imprisoned in our loved school, all we do is spend ridiculous amount of time in homeroom and watch the boys (and only the boys) play one game of kickball. I do not understand.)

Friday night is the homecoming game against---and please not that I say this in all seriousness---the Deaf and Blind School, who beat us last year 48 to 1. So as to give everyone a chance to recover from the trauma of realizing your school sucks at every sport, even when supported by at least 50 screaming freshmen, juniors with painted faces and all the football players' grandparents, the Homecoming dance has been moved to Saturday night, unlike last year. This year's theme is "A Night at the ___ ________ Academy School Cafetorium With Green Streamers."

I will of course document every moment of the resulting insanity.

The traffic in my brain's driving me insane, gotta make a getaway...

I've been a neglectful blogger

Apologies. I realize no one is really reading this yet---that I'm aware of...feel free to contribute opinions or thoughts, any wishful thinking at all :)---but i still feel compelled to actually write this thing. Not sure why. But if people WERE reading this, it would be cool if they commented with ideas they'd like to hear (read) me talk about/make fun of. Wondering how I should go about get people to do that. Hmm. I'll get back to that after I finish all this make-up work....bronchitis is no fun.

Adios, amigos invisibles!

Hmmm......today can be a day where if someone happens to read this most interesting of posts, i cordially invite you to please comment and suggest a topic/topics that you'd like to hear me babble about. You wont be disappointed! Gracias.

somewhere out on the highway, I'm sure that she's fine...

Halloween Costume Horrors

Why is it that if you DON'T read your summer reading books, you're the one who gets asked all the questions?? You might say its because the teacher knows you didnt really read it.  Nope, my teacher is totally convinced, because thanks to my lovely new friend John, i knew the basics of the book we talked about. Yaaaaay.

We got a Halloween costume catalogue in the mail yesterday - i've been flipping through it. What do you think, "Pirate Vixen" with knee-high black leather lace-up boots, or five-inch lacy red heels? just kidding. But really....here are some of the best, on a scale of most interesting:
1) "She's Wicked!" black and purple corset dress with arm warmers and thigh-highs, plus black heels with red soles.
2) "Treetopper" is a flowy, filmy, short white dress with a nice tree print wrapping around everywhere. Add in Tree of Life earrings for a whopping $29.95.
3)"Rouge et Noir" Be the Grim Reaper in vampy red this year...frighten small children and the elderly alike!
4)"Faerie Flirtation" is a very small purple & black corset dress with garter stockings and a lovely purple headband-antannae.
5)"Mystic Mermaid" is a sea-green velvet number with a flippy skirt and 3/4 sleeves, complete with a tiny blown-glass ornament bottle on a necklace.
6) "Birthday Bird" A $20 gray T-shirt with "Raven Lunatic" on the front.
7) "Queen of the Nile" is a lovely somewhat weirdly shaped black sheath with a 2-foot wide gold belt and multiple pieces of plastic jewelry.
8)"The Gypsy Princess" is a Esmeralda-type piece with lovely clashing royal purple and sea foam green, with a little gold ribbon and white taffeta thrown in for good measure. Comes with easily make-at-homeable purple head scarf for an extra $10.95.
9)"Bad is Good" - a short leather spaghetti strap dress with buckleboobs and straps, period. Nothing else. For the reasonable price of $99,95.
10) "You Decide" - "lingerie? we call it outwear." Does that say enough, or must I tell you that in consists of only a short, flowy, flimsy dress with almost-nonexistentstraps and designs that call attention to the chest area?

Feel free to vote for your favorites...I'm off to watch a good healthy dose of TV.

Peace, Love & John Mayer to all :)

Computer-induced self-hate.....

is plaguing me! I spent almost 2 days making this amazing "Wishful Thinking" page, with those words surrounded by a huge amount of black and white pictures of things like dancers, flowers, horses, cameras, old-timey cars, a crushed Coke can sitting on pebbles, clocks and barcodes, and old album covers to name a few or my favorites. I worked on this project for the past 2 and a half days so it could be the title-header thing for my blog page, for your optical pleasure. But, when I clicked "Upload", I read the words, "Your file could not be processed. Please try again." What would you do if you were me? Because I sure don't know. i cannot delete the page because i worked so hard on it, but as of about five minutes ago, it has no more purpose in life. It may as well drown its sorrows in bold font and clashing background colors. TTFN, my so-far imaginary readers! Tell your friends about that weird new blogger who hates computers! :)

Looks like I'm crazyblogging...

...But I had to talk about dance class today, my second and (until September 15th) last dance class taught by the amazing Ms. Jennifer Dournaux. Let me take a moment & say that she is the best *cough, only good* dance teacher I've ever had. Anyway...I talked to her after class to ask if she taught any other classes during the year, because I love-love-loved her classes. She said immediately "I knew you were a dancer!" Let me just tell you that that statement completely made my day and possibly my week. Maybe my whole life. I haven't really danced in so long, it just was so amazing to be told I was obviously a dancer. I just cannot even tell you. I would love for dance to be my whole life, just all the time...it's so amazing. You feel free and beautiful and strong and energized all at once, but also really at peace. I have these insanely tight hamstrings, too, so it's hard for me and I have to start at a way beginner level because of that. Its extremely frustrating because all the beginner classes are full of little girls, no teenagers at all. But anyway, Ms Jennifer's class was the best, and right now i'm incredibly sore but feeling amazing. Love to dance.

Meteor Shower!

Forgot to mention----"Perseid" meteor shower tonight! Or actually, way early tomorrow morning. They say the best time to watch is between midnight to 5 a.m. ... but late tonight and tomorrow night we might be able to catch a glimpse or two, if we're lucky with the weather! These are apparently pretty reliable, and the only problems you might have spotting them is bad weather... or bright moonlight, which is supposed be our problem this week. But the brighter ones should be more visible...for you guys in the city, it gonna be harder for you to see them. Same for us in the burbs...but wish me luck, and ditto yourselves...these are supposed to be the prettiest meteors of all :)

Hello World!

Hey, readers, if  you're out there reading this! Hmm, which font do you like best? I like this one. Okay. Here goes. Welcome to Wishful Thinking, my random thoughts blog...huh. Not sure what to tell you guys. Out To Lunch, Be Back Later. Check back soon, have a nice life :)
